The Ancient Turkic Calendar and it Reflection in the World Outlook of the Peoples of Central Asia

Kazakhstan National Committee for the Intangible Cultural Heritage and the Auezov Institute of the Literature and Art, with the support of the Kazakhstan National Commission for UNESCO and ICESCO, are co-organizing a webinar in Central and West Asia on March 14 (Thursday) in Almaty (GMT+5) under the theme of `The Ancient Turkic Calendar and its Reflection in the World Outlook of the Peoples of Central Asia`.

Kazakhstan National Committee for the ICH has been organizing the international webinars on the ICH topics since 2021 to share the traditional knowledge and promote the capacity-building in Convention (2003) implementation at local level.

The National Webinar aims to: (1) discuss the role and value of the duodecimal cycle of the Turkic calendar and its reflection in Kazakh folklore, like the samples of the oral heritage. These samples will include the sayings and judgements of the known mythologic persons; description of the common life situations, and human behavior related to the calendar cycle; and (2) modern estimation of the Turkic Calendar from the astronomic, ethnographic and social anthropology approaches.

The webinar will be conducted in Kazakh and Russian languages, and anyone who are interested in intangible cultural heritage and ancient Turkic time and space categories can participate.
