Open call for application has been announced for the Jeonju International Awards for Promoting Intangible Cultural Heritage (JIAPICH), which will select awardees for contributing significantly to the protection and development of intangible cultural heritage.

This year marks the seventh edition of the award, which launched in 2017 based on the “Jeonju Declaration on Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage. It is awarded to individuals, organizations, and/or communities that have carried out exemplary intangible cultural heritage safeguarding activities in the international community regardless of nationality, ethnicity, or religion. To raise the global profile of the JIAPICH, past awardees, jury, and UNESCO experts will serve as ambassadors this year.

Individuals and/or organizations that have contributed significantly to the protection and transmission of intangible cultural heritage.

*The definition of intangible cultural heritage is based on the 2003 Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
