INFO SESSION ON THE PROCESS OF ACCREDITATION OF NGOs

In response to ongoing discussions regarding the need for a more balanced geographical representation of NGOs accredited to the 2003 Convention, the ICH NGO Forum is taking proactive steps to address the imbalance. This follows the conclusions of the 2019 Consultation Meeting on the Role of Accredited NGOs in the 2003 Convention, held at the UNESCO Headquarters.

The ICH NGO Forum has been actively working to mitigate these disparities, with one key initiative being the establishment of a Working Group. This group engages a wide network of NGOs in addressing these concerns. Additionally, in 2022, the ICH NGO Forum`s Executive Board proposed the organization of regional Information Sessions to provide more clarity on the accreditation process.

The next cycle of these Information Sessions will take place from 17th to 20th March 2025. The sessions are aimed at non-accredited NGOs involved in safeguarding intangible cultural heritage, offering valuable guidance for those interested in becoming accredited.

The sessions will be held at the following times:

• For Eastern Europe (EG II), Asia Pacific (EG IV), and Africa (EG Va):
  17th March 2025
1:00 PM CET (in English) and 3:00 PM CET (in French)
• For Latin America (EG III):
  20th March 2025
9:00 AM Colombia time (GMT -5) (in Spanish)
• For Arab States (EG Vb):
  20th March 2025
  11:00 AM GMT (in Arabic)
