BACKGROUND
Even though we are encountered
extraordinary conditions due to the COVID-19, both co-organizers decide to
continue cooperative exchanges among ICH NGOs in this challenging time by
changing the conference format to online. Therefore, this year, as a timely issue,
the conference aims to thoroughly understand the broadness and depth of ICH
NGOs’ roles and challenges, particularly in the education field. Since the
breaking of the pandemic, diverse cultural institutes, such as museums and
galleries, offered online access to all, and UNESCO also has been trying to
collect case studies in the line with the 2003 Convention and sustainable
development, particularly SDG 4 Quality Education.
The value illumines when the situation is
in hardship. So is the intangible cultural heritage. These days, it is called
as living heritage, which emphasizes the characteristics of a source of
resilience, inspiration, joy, and solidarity. This conference will be a ground
for diverse stakeholders centering on NGOs to overcome the crisis for the
bright future.
OBJECTIVES
The 2020 ICH NGO Conference aims to better
understand the interrelationship between intangible cultural heritage and
education in the sense of sustainable development, to discover good practices,
and empower ICH NGOs in the region through sharing useful experiences and
information on their activities. Notably, by strengthening NGO networks in the
world under the current unexpected crisis, Many ICH NGOs, based on their
experience and specialties, conduct activities in diverse ways. As NGOs are
mediators bridging between governments and communities, it is crucial to share
their activities and build a network for vitalizing their ICH safeguarding
activities for the sustainable development of humanity.
- To understand and examine the effects and roles of ICH NGOs in
crisis
- To widen the scope of reachable, adaptable, and practical ICH
safeguarding tools
