History

Silk Roads Living Heritage Network (SRLHN) aims to promote a culture of peace along the Silk Roads by sharing information, raising international awareness, and ultimately strengthening the capacity to safeguard ICH.

    Work-level Advisory Meeting on the Strategies for Safeguarding the Silk Roads Living Heritage among domestic experts
    · On 21 December 2022, ICHCAP and the Institute for Eurasian Turkic Studies at Dongduk University held a work-level advisory with the purpose to exchange ideas on the future strategic direction of the SRLHN and expand the network of domestic experts.

    MOU signed between ICHCAP and the International Centre for Documentary Heritage under the auspices of UNESCO (ICDH)

    · On 12 November 2022, an MOU was signed between the two parties with the purpose of fostering the safeguarding of cultural heritage as an integrated part of sustainable development with specific attention to the living heritage of the Silk Roads.

    MOU signed between ICHCAP and the European Association of Folklore Festivals (EAFF)
    · On 23 October 2022, ICHCAP signed an MOU with the EAF to closely cooperate in safeguarding and promoting intangible cultural heritage in the Silk Roads area based on a mutual understanding.

  • Second SRLHN Coordinating Bureau Meeting
    · The 2022 Committee Bureau Meeting of the Silk Roads Living Heritage Network (SRLHN) took place on 23 October 2022 within the framework of the BOSPHORUS International Folk Dance and Music Festival (22-25 October) in Istanbul with the support of the Traditional Arts Association.

    First SRLHN Coordinating Bureau Meeting
    · On 29 October 2021, the Coordinating Bureau members elected Mr. Jahangir Salimkhanov, a representative from Azerbaijan as a chairperson and a representative of ICHCAP as a vice-chairperson.

  • Official inauguration of the Silk Roads Living Heritage Network
    · On 28 October 2021, ICHCAP, in cooperation with the International Institute for Central Asian Studies (IICAS) and the Korean Foundation’s Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum Secretariat, co-hosted and launched the Silk Roads Living Heritage Network.

    Preparatory Committee Meetings for the Silk Roads Living Heritage Network
    · ICHCAP and its collaborative partners held five preparatory committee meetings discussing the general operational measures of the network, including statute, membership, rules of procedure of the meetings, as well as the launching ceremony of the Network.

    High-level working meeting between ICHCAP and the Korea-Central Asia Cooperation Forum Secretariat
    · On 3 December 2020, the two parties agreed to collaborate with each other on the promotion of ICH in Central Asia and the establishment of the Silk Roads ICH network, along with the cooperative promotion of Central Asian Culture inside Korea over the long term.

    · On 27 August 2019, ICHCAP signed a tripartite MOU with the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the State Committee for Tourism Development of the Republic of Uzbekistan for the safeguarding and promotion of intangible heritage along the Silk Roads
