The International Centre of Martial Arts for Youth Development and Engagement under the auspices of UNESCO (hereinafter referred to as the “Centre”, Secretary-General Park Chang hyun) is holding the ICM International Martial Arts Photo Exhibition (hereinafter “Photo Exhibition”) online and offline from November 15, 2021 to April 30, this year.
36 winning works from the 2021 ICM International Martial Arts Photo Contest are on display at the center’s lobby, and an online VR gallery exhibition (unescoicm.org/2021photogallery) is also running for those who cannot visit in person. Admission is free, and the exhibition is closed on weekends and public holidays.
A total of 704 works were submitted from 32 countries around the world for the purpose of spreading martial arts activities in daily life and spreading positive martial arts values. A total of 36 winning works (1 grand prize, 2 gold prizes, 3 silver prizes, 5 bronze prizes, 25 fine work prizes) were selected by a judging committee composed of photography experts based on the reinterpretation of martial arts, the philosophy of the martial arts, and the technicality of the works.
The grand prize was awarded to ‘Arm-wrestling’ by Myanmar national artist Aung Kyaw Moe, who sensibly expressed martial arts in children’s daily lives.
