ICHCAP Signed an MOU with ICDH For Safeguarding the Silk Roads Heritage

ICHCAP-ICDH MOU Signing Ceremony
The International Information and Networking Centre for Intangible Cultural Heritage in the Asia-Pacific Region under the auspices of UNESCO (ICHCAP) and the International Centre for Documentary Heritage under the auspices of UNESCO (ICDH) signed a ‘Memorandum of Understanding on Cooperation in Safeguarding the Silk Roads Living Heritage’.
At the ICDH office in Cheongju, Korea, Mr. Jisung Kim, Director-General of ICHCAP and Mr. Seungcheol Lee, Acting Secretary-General of ICDH talked through the framework for cooperation between ICHCAP and ICDH, with the purpose of furthering safeguarding of cultural heritage as an integrated part of sustainable development, with specific attention to the living heritage of the Silk Roads. In accordance with the principles of extensive consultation, joint contribution and shared benefits, each party shared the ongoing and planned activities regarding the Silk Roads cultural heritage and further discussed the ways of exchange and collaboration.
To note, Silk Roads Living Heritage Network is a networking programme based on experiences and achievements obtained from the collaborative work of UNESCO-ICHCAP in the living heritage field in Central Asia, which aims to strengthen international cooperation among local communities along the Silk Roads and promote a culture of peace in keeping with the spirit of the 2003 UNESCO Convention.
