ICHCAP attended the 7th Coordination Meeting of UNESCO Category 2 Centres in Algeria

The 7th Coordination Meeting of UNESCO Category 2 Centres in the Field of ICH was held in Algiers, Algeria from 2 to 3 September 2019.
The meeting was organized by UNESCO and hosted by the Regional Centre for the Safeguarding of Intangible Cultural Heritage in Africa (CRESPIAF). Tim Curtis (UNESCO Intangible Heritage Section Chief) and representatives from seven category 2 centers established under the auspices of UNESCO around the world gathered to share issues and discuss ways for collaboration. This year, ICHCAP delivered a presentation on the NGO project and the intangible heritage education project currently implemented by ICHCAP and UNESCO, attracting a great attention from the participants. ICHCAP showed its intention to host the next coordination meeting in South Korea in 2021.
Meanwhile, representatives from South Korea, China, and Japan held a separate discussion. They agreed to hold a joint exhibition as a side event to introduce activities of category 2 centers during the 14th annual meeting of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage, which will take place in Colombia in December 2019.
