REPFest scene ⓒ Cambodian Living Arts

As the second edition, following 2017 REPfest, 2019 REPfest will be held in Siem Reap, Cambodia, from 2 to 9 September. In line with this festival, a research residency program will be run from 22  August to 30 September.

Cambodian Living Arts’ Heritage Hub, its organizer, is looking for music bands from countries along the Mekong River (Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, Thailand, and Vietnam) and Japan for the festival as well as Japanese researchers for its research residency program. The application deadline is in March 2019.

REPfest New Tradition Music Festival is a platform to present new creative music from traditional forms of the Mekong region to promote and strengthen the living heritage of Cambodia. The festival aims to build networking and enhance understanding between Cambodian artists and international artists and enable artists with traditional roots to develop their work creatively and share it with audiences.

The research residency provides an opportunity for researchers to conduct a case study of the festival and investigate sustainable models for cultural exchange and build a collaborative network in the Mekong region.

This event and residency program are supported by the Japan Foundation Asia Center. More details for each program are available at the following links.
