UNESCO is inviting proposals for the development of an interactive online platform to share good practices in safeguarding intangible cultural heritage. The platform, known as the “Article 18 platform,” aims to provide a space for communities and stakeholders to exchange experiences, collaborate, and build capacity in the field of living heritage safeguarding. The platform will focus on indexing safeguarding experiences and ensuring they are searchable by various tags, including safeguarding needs, methods, cultural domains, and sustainable development.
The platform will initially prioritize foodways as a thematic initiative, with a "beta version" expected by October 2025. UNESCO is seeking qualified experts or organizations to conduct research, develop the platform’s structure, and propose technical specifications for its creation. The project will run for 20 weeks, with deliverables including mapping existing online platforms, proposing technical specifications, and creating a knowledge transfer plan for long-term sustainability.
Proposals are due by March 18, 2025. Applicants must have experience in digital projects, web design, and interactive assets, as well as knowledge of the 2003 Convention and UNESCO`s digital governance guidelines.
